1. Early identification :
We are organizing awareness programs for the communities (mainly for play school teachers, Anganavady mothers) regarding early identification of various categories of disabilities. When the child gets enter into the school Parental counseling is done to make them accept their child as it is.
2. Supply of hearing Aids :
When a hearing impaired child is admitted to the school, the hearing capacity of the child is evaluated and fitted with suitable hearing aids.
3. Speech therapy :
The school has special Speech Therapy Centre equipped suitably, to assist and monitor the progress made by the hearing impaired children. Child has to undergo 3 years of basic training along with the mother to stimulate the child’s speech and language. Parental involvement is a must to enrich child’s speech and language. The school provides advance techniques like computer program to facilitate easy and quick learning. Once when they learn the age appropriate language they will be inclusive for the normal education system.
4. Integration :
After completion of 3 years of speech therapy the child will be admitted to 1st standard and seated with normal children. From 1st standard to 10th standard education is given to them with integrated approach. The medium of education is Kannada. The State prescribed curriculum is followed in Primary and Secondary education level.
5. Resource room training :
Hearing impaired children are exempted from second and third languages. During that period they are given special training by the trained teachers. Hearing impaired children are given special training in subjects like Kannada, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies by resource teachers in resource rooms by using Teaching materials.
6. Physiotherapy centre :
To assist the orthopedic handicapped children the school has a well equipped physiotherapy centre with a qualified physiotherapist. Regular and qualitative physiotherapy for orthopedic and neurologically disabled children are provided to develop and strengthen their physical structure.
7. Hydrotherapy :
As a part of rehabilitation we had introduced therapeutic aquatic program for our children which can promote early restoration of function.
8. Autism Centre :
We have recently started autism centre in our school. At present we are serving extensive training to 5 autistic children.
9.Vocational trainings :
The institution conducting various Vocational trainings and designed to enable the disabled children to secure and retain suitable employment. Vocational skills are provided in book binding, tailoring, painting, embroidery, art and crafts, typewriting, computer education, Rexine bag making, Diploma in Electronics. Challenged children are encouraged to acquire Vocational skills in accordance with their aptitude. The school also strives for gainful placements for its trained students.
10. School bus :
Free school bus service is available for physically challenged children.
11. Library :
Our school has a library and it contains more than 5200 books. There are four Kannada news papers and two English Newspapers,magazines & Periodicals. Students make good use of the library and reading room.
12. Laboratory :
Well equipped laboratory is provided to develop the child’s knowledge with experiments.
13. Sports room & equipments:
Sports and game materials are provided to children. Outdoor & Indoor games is provided.
14. Yoga class :
Yoga class is given as a part of education and as therapy to special and normal children.
15. Mid day meal :
The children of the school are provided nutritious mid day meal with the help of Childfund India and Indian Sponsor Programme and through Akshara Daasoha.
16. Active Parent teachers association :
The school has a parent teachers association which enables the parents and teachers to discuss the problems of their children which helps for the smooth functioning of the school.
